[ yellow tail ] wines and W.J. Deutsch & Sons are pleased to present the 2010 [ yellow tail ] wine [tail] contest. Entrants are invited to present a new wine-based recipe, utilizing the rich and friendly flavors of [ yellow tail ] wines, either re-creating existing classic cocktails or by crafting new cocktails. The semi-finalists will be invited to make their cocktails live at the Manhattan Cocktail Classic on May 17th in New York City. This portion of the contest will require the entrants to make one additional cocktail utilizing one of the W.J. Deutsch family of spirit brands: Luksusowa Vodka, Landy Cognac and Villa Massa Limoncello. The finalists will compete for the Grand Prize at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans on July 24th. Judges will include Doug Frost, Dale DeGroff, David Wondrich and Andy Seymour.
First Prize – a trip for two to Australia!
Including 6 nights hotel accommodations (based on 1 room double occupancy) at a 4-star hotel
Second Prize – $1000
Third Prize – $500
The Rules: Entrants should create a new cocktail, using [ yellow tail ] Sparkling White Wine, Sparkling Rose, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rose, Shiraz-Grenache, Cabernet-Merlot, Shiraz-Cabernet, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Shiraz. The recipes should include precise amounts of ingredients, garnishes, ideal glassware, preparation and assembly instructions as well as ideas for food pairings.
Who: Any legal US residents over the age of 21 may enter (excluding residents of AK, CA, HI, TN and any person who holds a state or federal alcoholic beverage license). We encourage all you mixologists to get your tail in gear!
When: Contest starts on April 1st, 2010, your entry must be in the website by midnight EST May 2nd, 2010. You must be present at the Manhattan Cocktail Classic to enter. Finalists will be required to be present at the Tales of the Cocktail. Each Finalist shall be provided with standard airfare to and from the Finals Contest and one-night standard hotel accommodations on July 23, 2010.
Where: Semi-finals at Manhattan Cocktail Classic and finals at Tales of the Cocktail.
