The 2nd Tuesday of November in the US of A is known as voting day. There is nothing more patriotic and American than choosing your elected officials to represent you in government. And, after you have voted, celebrate (or rue) in true American fashion with a true American spirit… bourbon.
Recognized in 1964 as a “distinctive product of the United States”, bourbon is made from corn. Although it can be made anywhere in the US, it is associated with Kentucky, primarily Bourbon County.
So, today’s tipple is made in the USA, the Manhattan.
Manhattan
1 oz Bourbon
0.5 oz Sweet Vermouth
1 tsp Maraschino Cherry Juice
Fill shaker 3/4 full with cracked ice.
Add bourbon, sweet vermouth, and maraschino cherry juice.
Shake with ice, strain.
Garnish with maraschino cherry.
