The famous tattoo artist, Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins, would have turned 100 years old this past January 14th. To celebrate, the folks from William Grant and Son’s, owners of Sailor Jerry Rum, threw a wild weekend in Honolulu where he practiced his art of tattooing. The group was hosted by Daniel Deephouse, Brand Manager Sailor Jerry and Rachel Furman, Brand Ambassador, Sailor Jerry Rum. I was among the attendee’s that included Erich Weiss the Writer/Director of the feature film about his life, Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry; as well as the Creative Director of the fab book “Homeward Bound, The Life and Times of Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry.” Look for a re-cap of the events in the upcoming spring 2011 issue of in the Mix magazine.
