Sheraton Hotels & Resorts kicked off their Sheraton Social Hour wine-tasting event in New York on May 15th. In cooperation with Wine Spectator magazine, Sheraton Social Hour is a first-of-its-kind, brand-wide premium wine program that will launch globally in over 240 Sheraton hotels around the world. Developed by premier wine experts and the brand’s global food and beverage team, the program offers guests a specially-curated menu of premium wines and gourmet bites.
“We wanted to truly elevate the wine tasting experience for our guests and are proud to introduce Sheraton Social Hour across our global portfolio,” said Hoyt Harper, Global Brand Leader for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “We worked with some of the most renowned names in the wine industry for more than a year, so that our guests can easily savor some of the most highly-rated wines in the world during their stay.”
Designed to create and foster social interaction among guests, all participating Sheraton hotels will host evening Social Hour tasting events three to four times a week. In North America, the events will feature many Wine Spectator 90+ rated wines served in Riedel stemware. The specialty wine menu, known as Sheraton Selects, will be comprised of a rotation of eight or more wines by the glass, all rated above 85 points, with at least four offerings rated 90+. Two of the 90+ rated wines will be featured as 2-ounce tastings for $5 each. The Sheraton Selects menu will highlight renowned wines such as the ones poured at the New York kickoff event, which included selections from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Eroica, Northstar, and Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte.
The inaugural kickoff event was a visual work of art and drew crowds of wine enthusiasts from all generational cultures. Offerings at artfully-prepared food stations were paired superbly with selected 90+ wines from Ste. Michelle Wine Estates portfolio. A champagne-glass chandelier hung in the main entryway and a 90+ wine wall was constructed from wooden wine crates. Winemaker “Dr. (Ernst) Loosen” strolled about speaking with guests and sharing his highly-rated riesling.
