At The Ritz-Carlton Boston Common, their goal is to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all guests, which includes the furry, four-legged members of your family. The hotel welcomes up to two well-mannered dogs and cats per room, with a weight limit of 30 pounds each. Guests are encouraged to walk their pets in any of the common areas of the hotel, where they are sure to be greeted warmly by the other guests and staff.
The Ritz-Carlton prides itself as being one of the most pet-friendly hotels in the city. The area in which the hotel is located is perfect for dogs; they can enjoy a walk in The Boston Common across the street, which includes beautiful views of the Public Garden that are sure to make your dog “woof” in approval.
The Ritz-Carlton has several amenities and services for their special guests, such as comfortable pet beds, blankets, bowls, treats and a “Pet in Room” door hanger, which helps hotel staff catering to you and your pet’s needs. The program also has clothing available for dogs and cats that enjoy looking their best. If you need any additional services, the hotel staff has several vendors they can recommend for tasks such as dog walking and dog grooming.
“We do have a lot of pets come in and out — we love it!” says Lisa Dziokonski, senior marketing and public relations coordinator at the hotel.
The Ritz-Carlton also offers a special Pampered Pet Package, which caters to the entire family. The package is available on weekends and includes overnight deluxe accommodations and valet parking, as well as a fruit and cheese welcome amenity for the guests and Ritz-Carlton doggy biscuits for their canine counterparts. Special spa services are also included in this package — owners will receive a one-hour massage and their pet will also receive an hour of pampering spa treatments. This package will make sure both you and your pet have a memorable stay while in Boston.
The JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek, a new addition to Denver, accepts adventurous, outdoors-loving pets of all sizes. A dog bed, food and water bowls, and special dog treats are complementary to all guests arriving with their pets.
The JW Marriott Denver has gone above and beyond the term “pet-friendly” with the introduction of a new amenity program aimed at pampering canines. Perks of the program are a sheepskin bed, stainless-steel food bowls and specialty biscuits for your furry friends to enjoy.
The hotel accepts pets of any breed, size or weight. In addition to the amenities provided for your pet, the upscale Cherry Creek North neighborhood of Denver is a prime spot for fabulous pups.
“Our hotel concierge is available to recommend the best dog-walking routes or nearby hikes,” says Mike Case, general manager at the hotel. “It’s pet pampering of the highest order.”
The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, known for its golf experience, is also known for its pet-friendly policies. The hotel has created a pet program called the Kierland Companion Club, in which all cats and dogs are welcome. The program is designed to make the Westin Kierland a “home away from home” for your canine and feline pals.
Upon check-in, dogs receive a complementary “Westin Heavenly Dog Welcome Kit,” with a special ID tag, clean-up bags/gloves to use in the Kierland Companion Park, eating dishes and a Westin Heavenly dog bed. They feel that not only guests should get a great night’s sleep, but man’s best friend should as well. Cat guests are provided with a litter box and litter, to make you and your feline feel comfortable.
A new member of the Westin Kierland family is the resident, four-legged Scotty, a Scottish terrier rescue, who will enjoy welcoming your companion with a friendly tail wag or clever trick. You’ll most likely see Scotty (right) wearing his finest Scottish blazer, as it was the Scottish immigrants who labored over many of Arizona’s mines, towns and railroads. Scotty and the rest of the Westin Kierland staff are more than happy to make yours and your pet’s stay a wonderful one.
“The pet-friendly program at The Westin Kierland Resort allows four-legged guests to feel welcome, and lets travelers bring a part of their family along that might otherwise be left at home,” says Holly Penido, public relations coordinator at The Westin Kierland. “It also warms the hearts of those who are traveling without their pets as guests can enjoy being greeted by Scotty, or have the chance to pat the head of another guest’s furry friend.”
A pet–friendly urban retreat in the heart of downtown San Francisco, Hotel Palomar provides special amenities and accepts all pets of any shape or size.
Upon arrival, your pet will receive a keepsake pet toy and treats. Additionally, a bed, food/water bowls, a copy of “The Dog Lover’s Companion to the Bay Area,” a leash and disposable pick-up bags will all be sent to your room for use during your stay. Looking for additional pet services? The Hotel Palomar concierge is happy to coordinate grooming, pet sitting and walking for your pet.
In addition to the goodies you’ll receive, your pet will be greeted upon arrival by Maverick, the director of pet relations. Maverick, a cheerful Labrador retriever, was rescued from a shelter and now welcomes pets and humans alike to the Hotel Palomar location. Maverick’s attention to guest care and knowledge of all things pet-friendly has been noticed by the hotel and recognized in the form of a promotion. In addition to his role as director of pet relations, Maverick now serves as ambassador of the hotel. His presence and dedication create a playful, warm atmosphere that guests of the Hotel Palomar will enjoy.
One of Maverick’s first decisions as ambassador was to begin offering the “It’s a Dog’s Life” package, giving guests the perfect itinerary to experience the best of the city hand-in-paw with their pet. Featuring a one-night stay, dog-friendly neighborhood guide to parks and pet-friendly attractions, luxurious doggie bed, “I Heart SF” dog tags, biodegradable baggies, water bottle, dog bowl and special toy — this package has it all. An animal cracker evening snack will even be provided for the owner, who will surely be exhausted after a playful day in the city.
The Hotel Palomar is not only pet-friendly, but is charitable as well. Inspired by the “Flat Stanley” tradition, guests are encouraged to pick up a “Flat Maverick” at the hotel so that he can accompany them on their adventures in San Francisco and future travels elsewhere. Guests will be encouraged to share their photos of Flat Maverick via Facebook and e-mail, as Hotel Palomar will donate $1 per photo to Golden Gate Lab Rescue.
The pet program at the Monaco Portland begins with a warm welcome from Timmy, a fun-loving yellow lab who serves as the hotel’s director of pet relations. While all Kimpton hotels are known for being pet-friendly, the Hotel Monaco in Portland really strives to make sure each four-legged friend is treated royally.
“We see pets as an extension of our guests at the Hotel Monaco, so we want to do everything we can to make them as welcome and comfortable as possible,” says General Manager Craig Thompson.
All pets are welcome, with no restrictions on size or weight. Several amenities are offered to keep your pets happy and feeling special, including a personal welcome on the Pet Welcome Board, food and water bowls, dog beds in guests’ room, a bottle of spring water, treats and eco-friendly cleanup bags.
Hotel Monaco guests also have the option to purchase the Portland Unleashed Pet Package, which includes Oregon micro-brew for you and “Bowser Beer” for your dog, who will undoubtedly need a cold one after traveling. The package also includes a trail mix kit for both owner and pet to enjoy, an urban map of pet-friendly breweries and restaurants in the Portland area, and a $20 gift certificate for LexiDog pet boutique.
We love that our guests can have a beer and their dog can hang out at the same time – where else can you see that?” asks Thompson.
A variety of special services may also be arranged through Hotel Monaco’s concierge, including pet-sitting and grooming services, walking services by The Tails of Two Cities, or a session with pet psychic Bridget Pilloud of Pets Are Talking.
The hotel’s well-executed pet program is an extension of the city of Portland’s. The pet-loving city is home to many great walking spots, pet boutiques and pet-centric events. The Hotel Monaco Portland boasts itself as the most pet-friendly hotel in Portland, and we’re not disagreeing — the annual Portland’s Next Top Dog Model contest, a lively benefit for the Oregon Humane Society, takes place at the hotel.
Pets are also welcome to join in the fun at the evening wine hour, hosted every day from 5-6 p.m. in the lobby. “We love to include our furry guests in our nightly hosted wine hour, which is quite a festive event!” says Thompson.
The entire Hotel Indigo chain is pet friendly, but the Atlanta Midtown location goes above and beyond just welcoming pets of all shapes and sizes with their pet program.
The hotel has been hosting Canine Cocktails since 2005, a dog-friendly happy hour that takes place every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and runs from Labor Day through Halloween. The hotel invites pet lovers to bring their dogs to mix and mingle at one of the city’s coolest destinations for pets, right across from the Fox Theater. When guests imbibe on one of the delicious signature cocktails, $1 from each drink will go to the Atlanta Humane Society. The list includes vodka cocktails such as “Off the Leash,” made with ginger beer, a fresh splash of lime juice and a sprig of mint; or the “French Bulldog,” made with raspberry and peach liqueurs and cranberry juice.
All dogs in attendance are welcomed to a complementary dog treat, with vegan and organic options for the health-conscious pups. Each dog can also drink from his own personal water bowl, while both owners and their pets can enjoy frozen treats from Jake’s Ice Cream. The Atlanta Humane Society brings dogs for adoption each month, making Thursdays quite enjoyable for everyone who attends.
From Portland to Boston, displays of pet affection are becoming more common across the country. With pets finally being recognized in their roles as family members and friends, the bar is constantly being raised among hotels for the certification as “pet friendly.” With so many hotels to choose from, we rest assured that you and your furry companion will enjoy your next adventure together, wherever your travels may take you!
